Scouting team of the Royal Challengers Bangalore found the talented young player, Himanshu. It’s a part of RCB’s Hinterland Scouting system that significantly uses artificial intelligence to find young talented players who aren’t famous and give them opportunities to showcase their cricketing skills on this big stage.
Himanshu was invited for trials by the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp. He impressed the RCB coaches with his spin bowling and later in the 2023 IPL auction which was held in December 2022, the team purchased him for INR 20 lacs and this year they retained him for the same fee.
Himanshu made his debut in the 70th match of the 2023 Indian Premier League, which was played on 21 May 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore faced the defending champions Gujarat Titans. Playing first, RCB had set a huge target of 198 runs. But the Gujarat team chased down this target with 5 balls remaining.
He bowled three overs in this match and gave 28 runs. He failed to take any wickets. But he gained the experience to play alongside world-class cricketers like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. In that match, the man of the match, Shubman Gill who scored 104 runs is almost the same age as him. This experience must have inspired Sharma to become better at the game.

He started his cricketing journey in his hometown but later moved to Jaipur which is 100 km away from Sikar, to pursue his cricket career more seriously.
