We shouldn’t forget South Africa’s uncapped players like Dayyaan Galiem and Ronan Hermann. Overall, the team looks strong with such a squad consisting of some of the best cricketers around the world.

Home Ground

The Wanderers Stadium located in Illovo, Johannesburg, South Africa is the home of Joburg Super Kings. Both domestic and international matches are played here. The stadium was built almost 7 decades ago and has a seating capacity of 34,000.

The stadium holds some historical significance as it has hosted some big ICC events. The 2003 Cricket World Cup and 2007 T20 World Cup finals were held on this ground. The stadium was one of the venues for the 2009 Indian Premier League (IPL). It also hosted the final of the Champion League T20 in 2010 and 2012.

In 2015, everybody’s favorite AB de Villiers broke both the fastest ODI half-century and the fastest ODI century record in the same match at this stadium. He completed his century in just 31 deliveries. Faf du Plessis, the captain of Joburg Super Kings, has scored centuries on the ground in all three formats of cricket.

Last year performance

Faf du Plessis, the second leading run-scorer last year, will once again take command of Joburg Super Kings in this season. Playing well throughout the tournament, the team won 6 matches and entered the semis.

In the semifinal match, Joburg Super Kings won the toss and invited Sunrisers Eastern Cape to bat first. The match went close, but the Kings couldn’t chase the huge target of 213. After the upper three batsmen failed to score runs, Reeza Hendricks fought well and played a great knock of 95 runs in just 56 balls.

In the end, the right-arm medium-fast bowler Romario also played a crucial knock of 38 with a strike rate of 271, but the team couldn’t cross the score of 199, which resulted in a 14-run defeat.
