The Guyana National Stadium, also known as the Providence Stadium, was established 18 years ago and has been hosting both domestic and international cricket matches. It falls within the territory of the British West Indies and will serve as one of the 9 venues in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Overview
Since 2007, it has been the home of the Guyana Cricket team. Another team, Guyana Amazon Warriors joined the list of tenants six years later in 2013 when the Caribbean Premier League was started. It won’t be the first time when it will be hosting World Cup matches, it hosted 6 matches in the 2007 WC.

History of Guyana National Stadium
The stadium was built specifically to host matches in the 2007 World Cup. One of the most notable matches was played between Sri Lanka and South Africa, in which Lasith Malinga became the first bowler to take four wickets in four consecutive balls in International Cricket. Since its establishment, it has been hosting all three formats of international cricket as well as domestic matches. Apart from cricket, it has also hosted other sports including football and rugby. Not only sports but we have also witnessed other events like concerts in this venue.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be played across 9 different venues. This tournament will consist of 55 matches out of which 6 will be held at the Guyana National Stadium.
