Most Centuries in PSL: The 9th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is about to begin, and cricket fans can’t control their excitement. We have witnessed 8 seasons of PSL so far. In these 8 editions, we saw some amazing performances from talented cricketers. Before moving to the upcoming season, let’s look at the records of previous seasons. Here in this article, we are going to explore the most hundreds in Pakistan Super League.

Initially, we didn’t witness many centuries in PSL tournaments. In the first three seasons, we only saw 3 centuries. The first-ever hundred in PSL was made by Pakistani left-hand batter Sharjeel Khan. Playing for Islamabad United, he scored 117 runs in the inaugural season in 2016. At the number one position in the points table, you can see the former Wicket-Keeper batter of Pakistan, Kamran Akmal. In the second and third seasons which occurred in the years 2017 and 2018 respectively, he scored two centuries. He played an inning of 101 runs in 2020 against the Quetta Gladiators. It was his third and last century in the seven seasons he participated. 

Behind Akmal are Jason Roy, Sharjeel Khan, Rilee Rossouw, and Fakhar Zaman. Each of them has two centuries to their name. As we know, the star batter of Peshawar Zalmi, Akmal, won’t be playing in the tournament, these four players can claim the number one spot in the table this year.

PSL Most Centuries In One Season

As we talked about earlier, initially, we only witnessed a few centuries in PSL tournaments. In the first three years, we only saw one century each season. However, in the fourth edition which was hosted in 2019, we saw two 100+ scores. A year later, the fans saw the fifth season, probably the best season in the history of PSL, where three centuries were made.

In the sixth season, two centuries were made, while in the seventh edition in 2022, we again witnessed 100+ scores three times. In the 8th edition of the PSL tournament which occurred last year, Rilee Rossouw and Usman Khan crossed the mark of one hundred runs. Usman, playing for the Multan Sultans, scored 120 runs, the second-highest in the tournament, while Rilee, playing for the same team, scored one more run than his teammate.

PSL 2024

The first match of the 9th season of the Pakistan Super League will be played on 17 February 2024, between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The final match is scheduled at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on 18 March.

Last year in the 8th season of the Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars lifted the trophy after defeating the Multan Sultans. It was the second consecutive time they played the final match, and Lahore emerged victorious. Every participating team in the PSL tournament has lifted the trophy at least once. Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United have won the league twice.

The 34 matches scheduled in this tournament will be played across four cities of Pakistan – Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Karachi will host most matches, including the playoffs. A total of 6 teams will participate in the league – Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, and Karachi Kings.
