Top 10 Leading Wicket-Takers
We have witnessed 8 fantastic seasons of the Pakistan Super League by now. This year, we will be seeing the 9th edition of the tournament, but before that, let us take some time to appreciate the leading wicket-takers of previous editions. Here are the top 10 bowlers with the most wickets in the PSL:
- Wahab Riyaz
The left-arm fast bowler, Whab Riyaz is the most successful bowler in the Pakistan Super League. He played in 2016 for the first time in the PSL tournament. Since then he has played 88 matches and took 113 wickets. In his best innings bowling, he took four wickets, giving 17 runs.
- Hasan Ali
The Pakistani right-arm medium-fast bowler, Hasan Ali played in 2016 for the first time in the PSL tournament. He has played 72 matches and taken 94 wickets. He dismissed four batters in his best innings bowling and gave just 15 runs.
- Shaheen Shah Afridi
The left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is only 23 years old but has impressed the fans with his incredible performances both in domestic and international cricket. He played in the PSL tournament for the first time in 2018. He has participated in 62 matches and registered 89 wickets in his name. In his best inning bowling, he shocked everyone by dismissing five batters, giving just 4 runs.
- Shadab Khan
The young Pakistani allrounder, Shadab Khan contributes with both bat and ball. He started his journey in the Pakistan Super League in 2017. Since then he has played 72 matches and dismissed 77 batsmen.
- Faheem Ashraf
The Pakistani bowling allrounder, Faheem Ashraf started his journey in PSL in the year 2018 and by now has played 60 matches. In his PSL career, he has 72 wickets to his name and in his best innings bowling, he took 6 wickets giving 19 runs.
- Mohammad Nawaz
Another Pakistani all-rounder in the list of top wicket-takers is Mohammad Nawaz with 70 wickets in 76 matches he played in the Pakistan Super League. He has been participating in this league since the inaugural season in 2016.
- Haris Rauf
The right-arm fast bowler, Haris Rauf participated in the PSL tournament for the first time in 2018. Since then he has played 53 matches and took 64 wickets. He dismissed four batters in his best innings bowling and gave 23 runs.
- Mohammad Amir
The left-arm medium-fast bowler, Mohammad Amir played in 2016 for the first time in the PSL tournament. Since then he has played 66 matches and took 63 wickets. In his best innings bowling, he took four wickets, giving 25 runs.
- Imran Tahir
The 44-year-old South African Legbreak Googly bowler, Imran Tahir is the only foreign player in the list of top 10 players with the most wickets in PSL. He retired from international cricket in 2019 but still takes part in many domestic leagues. He joined the PSL tournament in 2018. He has dismissed 56 batsmen in the 44 matches he participated.
- Sohail Tanvir
The left-arm medium-fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has retired from international cricket, however, he participates in tournaments like Pakistan Super League. We didn’t see him playing last year but he has been one of the most successful bowlers in PSL since 2016. He has played 61 matches in this league and taken 55 wickets.
