Domestic Cricket
M Chinnaswamy hosts many domestic matches every year; it is the home ground of the Karnataka cricket team. In the Indian Premier League, it has been the home of Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2008. Last year, the semi-final match of the Ranji Trophy was held here, in which the Saurashtra cricket team reached the final after defeating Karnataka.
One of the most memorable moments for the local fans came in the final of the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where the Karnataka team won the tournament after defeating Tamil Nadu. Apart from the Karnataka cricket team and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (men’s), it is the home ground of two more teams: Karnataka women’s cricket team and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (women’s).

History
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was established 54 years ago in 1961, and it was originally known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium. Later, it was renamed in honor of the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), M. Chinnaswamy.
The first-ever international match was played in this stadium in November 1974 between the West Indies and India. Since then, it has witnessed numerous historic moments, including India’s first Test win and the record-breaking partnership between Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh in 2007.
